Honey Harvesting and Queen Rearing Field Trip

Rescheduled due to weather!!!! Start Time : 9:00AM-2:00 PM.
Location: everyone meets at 383 Palmer Ridge Rd, Plaucheville, LA 71362 then departs at 9am and follows Joey to the Queen yard. Following lunch everyone meets up at the second location at1 pm at 2404 Le Glise St, Mansura, La 71350.

Join fellow club members on a field trip to visit the honey processing facility of Bordelon Apiary, supplier of CABA’s 2020 and 2021 nucs and queens. First stop will be the Queen yard where participants will get hands on practice spotting and catching queens, learning more about queen and drone biology, grafting and starting queen nucs. The group will then drive to the main facilities about 15 minutes away to learn the tricks of the trade about honey harvesting and extraction on a larger scale with plenty of information to take back to your hobby, sideliner, or commercial beekeeping operation, opportunities to get “sticky” as you try your hand at honey extraction.

Registration is required. Transportation not provided by CABA to Plaucheville, LA.

Lunch is own your own. There are local food shops nearby. The Queen yard location does not have restroom facilitates so please plan accordingly.

Participants must bring own protective clothing and a clean, disinfected hive tool. No smokers or other equipment necessary.
